About Willington Action Group
The Group was established in April 2011 in order to provide a range of artistic, sporting and social activities for the young people of the village.
The group meet weekly at the Old School Building on Castleway in the village, the meeting are from 6:30 to 8:00 pm on a Wednesday evening.
The group currently provide a forum with the younger members of the community between the ages of 8 – 13yrs where they can meet and interact with other people in a safe and secure environment.
As the membership has changed over the years the group have sought to provide activities that are appropriate to, and of interest to, the then current membership.
The consistent response from the members when asked ‘why they come to the group?’ is “because we can come and do what we want”.
The Group’s weekly meetings are ‘controlled’ by a set of rules that were constructed by the group members in the early stages of the group’s operation. A copy of the rules can be found in the ‘Administration’ section of this web site.
The group has been fortunate to have received wide support from both individual members of the community, businesses and local organisations. Without this support the group would not have been able to operate so successfully and we would extend our thanks to them. Further details of some of these supporters can be found on the ‘Sponsors and Supporters’ page of this web site.
The club is run on a day to day basis by volunteers and again we would not have been able to operate without the generous commitment of their time and effort.
We are also grateful to the local people who have given of their time to come and work with our members in order to share their skills and experiences and help develop new ‘life skills’ in our members.
If you have a particular skill or expertise that could be appropriate to our members, or could spare the odd hour or two to help out, then please do not hesitate to contact us via the contacts page on this web site.
Thank you for taking the time to find out more about our group.
